You can adjust ANC and switch to an "aware" setting that allows ambient sounds to be heard. However, you can't disable the audio.

The headsets are still an excellent choice for anyone seeking a pair of premium headphones to wear on a plane or train or at home when working. They have an extended battery life with excellent noise cancellation as well as clear audio. They also feature multipoint Bluetooth, which means they can be connected to two devices at the same time and switch between them at the press of a button. They also have an app that isn't quite as customizable as the other apps, but still offers numerous useful features.

The QC45s have an active noise cancelling feature that's very effective. In my testing it was a bit too loud at times. They don't come with built-in microphones for voice commands support however, they do have an audio response from Google Assistant and their mics are great at removing background noise during phone conversations.

The battery can last up to 20 hours for most people. The USB cable is included to charge your phone. It's not as convenient as Bluetooth, but you still have the ability to listen to your music while you charge. They're also compatible with a lot of audio devices that have a 2.5mm port, meaning you can use them when you travel.

The earcups are covered in leatherette, and offer excellent isolation through passive. The headband is soft and offers ample adjustability without being too bulky or slouchy. The headband is wide enough to accommodate glasses wearers, so they'll fit most people.

Monoprice ANC is effective and does not sound as loud as other brands. They offer a slight boost around 100-200Hz to provide a fuller sound for bass notes. This is evident in the opening of Good 4 U by Olivia Rodrigo with a full and clear response. They have a steep drop off in the upper frequencies above ten kHz, therefore shakers and cymbals won't sound as clear and crisp.

There are three ANC modes to switch through high, medium and low. high. The low setting is ideal for blocking out the majority of ambient noise, however it won't block out traffic or conversations that are loud. The medium setting will work in most situations. The high setting will shield you from everything but your music. The earcups have touch-sensitive controls that take some time to become familiar with. Swiping upwards or downwards on the pad regulates the volume, and tapping or shifting left or right alters the track. You can also double-tap to play a pause or answer a call. It takes some time to become familiar with this system but once you are, you will find it very useful.
